Vancouver Home Renovation

What do you do when your house looks the same as everyone on your street? Change the exterior and stand out from the crowd!

Vancouver House: Before
If you live in Vancouver you probably notice a lot of the houses have a certain look (just like the photo above). If you want to stand out in your street, tearing the house down and building new is a costly project. Perhaps changing the exterior while keeping the bones of the house could be a good money saving alternative. Time to make an old house look new again!

Vancouver House: After

A lot of Vancouver houses have a "box" shape and I decided to give it a more modern architectural look that will compliment the shape of the house.

Some of the changes done to the Vancouver house are:
• use of wood, metal and concrete metarials for the exterior
• new modern double doors

• larger windows
• updated balcony
• cleaned up the landscaping

front door renovation

Every house has a unique architecture and the front door is one of the first things your family and friends will naturally look at. With the right style and character, front doors can make any home look more "grandeur".

Front Door Renovation: Before
This front door entrance looks great but could use some freshening up. The front door looks dated, but with some new paint and glass treatments the front door can improve the house's curb appeal.

Front Door Renovation: After
A little bit of paint and shrubs go a long way! Adding a fancier trim also adds a touch of elegence.

Updates are:
• paint
• shrubs
• light fixtures
• new trim around the door
• new doors (the old one would have worked aswell)

penthouse renovation

We are delighted to offer this exceptional penthouse apartment situated within a striking contemporary building. The property offers first class security with a video entryphone service, a private gym and small café. There is also a parking space for the residents. The penthouse is reached via a lift service from the ground floor lobby area and there is also an emergency staircase. The private front door leads through to the entrance hall and there are two double bedrooms, the master bedroom benefits from folding doors that lead out to a small balcony with breathtaking panoramic views. This room is perfect for those who enjoy entertaining whilst taking in the most fabulous panoramic views. All this can be yours at a cost of your arm and a leg!

Penthouse: Before
What a great piece of property! A blank canvas that needs to be painted.

Penthouse: After
When I decorated this penthouse, I kept it simple and minimal. Having large open spaces will highlight your furniture and make the room even larger.

Minor updates are:
• hardwood floors
• furniture

Is your tv room too cluttered? or perhaps it looks to empty? Take a look at the generous wall space and envision all the possibilities. A built-in entertainment center can make your TV Room more functional and stylish.

TV Room: Before
This room looks quite empty and the peacock ornament seems to be the focal point of the room... Time to spruce things up and make this into a real TV Room.

TV Room: After

Who knew that putting together some cabinets and shelving can make a night and day difference to the room. A valuable addition to any home!

Updates include:
• large lcd tv & built-in wall speakers

wooden fence

Wood is the most popular material for constructing residential fences. It is affordable, versatile and is easy to install and repair. When properly constructed and maintained, a wooden fence can add value and appeal to any property.

Wooden Fence: Before
An old wooden fence with no particular style. While having plenty of privacy, this fence is quite an eye sore.

Wooden Fence: After
The new wooden fence offers plenty of privacy, security and decorative appeal.

living room makeover

Every living room should have a ceiling fan. Ceiling fans provide an energy-efficient way to cool your home during hot weather and makes a nice addition to an empty ceiling.

Living Room: Before
This living room overall is not bad.. The ceiling looks kind of empty though so I plan on fixing that. Time to give this living room to a more formal look.

Living Room: After
The living room looks larger now with the coffered ceilings. The ceiling fan also adds a great feature to the room.

Updates include:
• added coffered ceilings
• added ceiling fan
• changed to potlights
• dark hardwood floors
• proper fitting drapery panels
• wall mounted lcd tv
• new fireplace
• new paint and furniture

Black and White Living Room
Just for fun, I also made a black and white theme for the living room. The colors gives it a more traditional yet modern look...quite interesting!

cottage powder room

A powder room is as a small bathroom that contains only a sink and a toilet. The powder room is usually located on the first floor of the house and is also referred to as a guest bathroom or half bath. This allows guests to use the bathroom without having to up stairs into the homeowner’s personal space. Decorating a powder room can offer the homeowner an opportunity to express personal style and to incorporate new colors and accessories into his or her home.

Powder Room: Before
A powder room that needs to be freshened up. The colours match but I dont think they are appropriate for this setting...that bathroom just doesn't look "clean" to me.

Powder Room: After
Renovated the powder room with a clean cottage look.

Minor updates are:
• white wainscoting
• blue checkered wallpapers
• dark tiles
• added a wall cabinet to increase storage
• new sink pedestal

Traditional Kitchen Makeover

Your kitchen is one of the most important spaces in your home.  A great kitchen is not only used for cooking but also used as an entertaining space.  If your kitchen is used to celebrate holidays, birthdays and other special occasions, then consider remodeling it to warmly welcome guests in festivities.

Kitchen: Before
An excellent low budget kitchen. If you have extra cash lying around, perhaps its time to give the kitchen a bit more character.

Kitchen: After
Updated the kitchen with a more traditional look with today's modern amenities.

What I updated:
• Lighter tile color and paint
• Dark wood cabinets with beige granite counter tops
• Under cabinet lighting
• Stainless steel appliances
• Stone veneer back splash

Contemporary Master Bedroom Renovation

The master bedroom is a place where we spend a large chunk of our lives. It is the room that we use to relax after a hectic day at work. Therefore it is important that we make our bedroom as nice as possible.

Master Bedroom: Before

At first glance, this master bedroom looks quite typical but uninspiring. The colors don’t work and that table lamp is really ugly. It needs a complete makeover.

Master Bedroom: After

The same master bedroom with a more contemporary look.

What I updated:
• Hardwood floors
• Stone veneer accent wall
• Recessed & pendant lighting
• Light neutral grey paint & matching solid color drapery panels
• Dark contemporary bed frame with matching nightstands
• Large colorful artwork
